In the two-year-plus fight to restore a commercial docket in Cuyahoga County, the ball is back in Judge John Russo’s court. Whether the commercial docket dedicated to expedited and consistent resolutions of corporate disputes and complex business-to-business cases will return remains unclear.
“We are very happy with what the Supreme Court has set forth and we are hopeful that whatever concerns the various judges had who opposed the docket that this addresses those so we can reinstitute the docket in Cuyahoga County,” said Phil Ciano, principal at Ciano & Goldwasser and a leader of the local team of lawyers who’ve championed for the docket’s restoration by suggesting rule changes to Ohio’s chief justice. “I think this is very promising. But it’s not over yet.”
